He also led the network investigation in 2004 that uncovered new evidence in the murder of Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa. Earlier, he reported on the Iraq War diplomatic developments at the United Nations, the O.J. Simpson murder trial, the death of Princess Diana, and the Michael Skakel trial, among other top stories.
Shawn has however conducted several interviews with world leaders from President Bill Clinton to U.N. Secretary Generals Ban Ki-Moon and Kofi Annan. In addition, he interviewed Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, Ehud Olmert, Ariel Sharon, and Ehud Barak. He also interviewed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. However, he first started covering attacks against the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and the New York City bombing plot. He also covered attacks with the shooting in 1990 of Rabbi Meir Kahane, the attacks and aftermath of 9/11, and the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing.
Before joining FNC, Shawn worked for Fox News Edge as a correspondent. He mainly covered many breaking news stories such as the TWA Flight 800 crash, the Unabomber arrest, the Freeman standoff, and the siege in Waco, Texas. He also covered the William Kennedy Smith trial, the White House, and the 1992 Clinton campaign. Prior to that, he also served in the Persian Gulf and Somalia as a war correspondent. Previously, he worked at WNYW-TV (FOX) in New York as a reporter in 1989. Additionally, he worked at WPIX-TV and WNYC-TV, in New York as an anchor and reporter.
