Earlier career
Prior to NBC, Nguyen served as the news anchor for CBS This Morning Saturday. She was a correspondent and an anchor for The Early Show, and also an anchor of the CBS Morning News. However, she covered the 2011 earthquake in Japan, Nguyen covered the 2012 Presidential election, the Royal wedding, the death of Osama Bin Laden, the 2010 Gulf oil spill, and the Arab Spring. Additionally, she took on the additional role in 2012 of reporting celebrity news, serving as Special Correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, and covering the People’s Choice Awards.
Before joining CBS News in 2010, Nguyen served as an anchor for the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom since 2004. However, while on the network she covered Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in South Asia, earthquakes in Chile and Haiti in 2010, the death of Pope John Paul II in 2005, and the London bombing attacks in July 2005 among others. She also traveled across the world for a series of exclusive reports such as Constitución, Mexico, Africa, Houston Astrodome, and Vietnam.
Prior to CNN, Nguyen worked as an anchor for KTVT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Dallas. While at the network, she covered numerous breaking news events such as the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. Moreover, she also played the role of a freelance correspondent for E! Entertainment Television during the California gubernatorial election in 2003. In addition, she started her career as a morning reporter and anchor at KWTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Waco, Texas.
