While working in Baltimore, Wieland learned how to forecast for three different stations every night. In this capacity, he broadcast tornadoes, snowstorms, and heat waves all in one night! Despite being a thousand miles away in his Baltimore studio, he had the opportunity to broadcast Hurricanes Dennis and Charlie live as they made landfall along the Florida coastlines.
Wieland spends his free time at the beach and surfing. He serves as a member of the Surfrider Foundation. His passion for surfing led him to launch the region’s first surf blog by a meteorologist. In this role, shares insights into where and when the waves will be hitting the local beaches.
