After graduating from college, Katro launched her career in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she served 5NEWS as a field reporter and fill-in anchor. She also served WTIC in Hartford, Connecticut, as a reporter and fill-in anchor. While in Hartford, she was on the Communications Advisory Board for Manchester Community College, where she offered mentorship to college students.
