Ratcliff was diagnosed with cancer in 2025. This was after she fell at home and suffered a head injury. As a result, she went to the hospital, where she had a scan to check her condition and to know what caused her fall. Doctors noticed a nodule on one of her lungs. After a few months, the nodule remained, and she was told to get a biopsy. The biopsy revealed that she had adenocarcinoma, a very slow-growing cancer. Fortunately, it was a Stage 1 cancer. In August 2025, she went to Duke University Hospital to have surgery to remove the cancerous region in a lobe of her left lung. She shared her story to raise awareness about cancer and let people know that even the healthiest individuals can get cancer.
