Mark Collins is a renowned American meteorologist working as a meteorologist for News4Jax. He rejoined the News4Jax team in September 2016. This is his second time working at the station, as he previously served the station as an on-air meteorologist and weather producer from October 2010 to October 2011.

Collins first joined WJXT in 2010 but started tracking Jacksonville storms on-air since 2003. During his TV career, he has broadcast all corners of the station. For instance, he was in Jacksonville just in time to broadcast the record 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons.
Collins worked in hurricane alley as a weather anchor for Miami’s WTVJ and as a weather forecaster at Miami’s WFOR. During his time in Tallahassee, he launched the weather program at Florida’s News Channel’s statewide cable network start up in the late 1990s.
Since most of his childhood hobbies like surfing, boating and enjoying the outdoors relied on the weather, it was natural for him to make a career out of meteorology. His passion for the weather started from experiencing numerous severe weather events, particularly hurricane Elena in 1985 and the 1993 Storm of the Century, which inspired his interest in the weather.
Collins remembers being in a shelter for three days as Elena churned 60 miles offshore. When he returned home, he found it in ruins on the Gulf. Experiencing some of Florida’s worst hurricanes has given him a new perspective on storms without being over sensational Some of his career highlights includes being the first AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in Jacksonville and flying aboard NOAA’s hurricane hunters.
